TRANSPORTATION

Taxicabs: A cab ride costs $33.00 from the airport to the French Quarter for one or two persons, and $14.00 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. Pick-up is on the lower level, outside the baggage claim area. There may be an additional charge for extra baggage. $1 fuel surcharge added to total fare.

Airport Shuttle: Shuttle service is available from the airport to the hotels in the CBD for $38 (round trip), $20.00 (per person, one-way). Three bags per person. Call 1-866-596-2699 or (504) 522-3500 for more details or to make a reservation. Ticket booths are located on the lower level in the baggage claim area. If you have 2 passengers, United Cabs is cheaper.  You pay the same rate and are taken directly to your hotel with no delays.

If you are taking the shuttle back to the airport, you must reserve a spot on the shuttle the night before you head home.

Parking at the Westin hotel: $18 per night, additional charge for in-and-out privileges.  Valet is $36 per night, with in-and-out privileges.

You will not need transportation once you arrive to the hotel. The Westin is located on the edge of the French Quarter, and within walking distance of all the performance venues, shops, restaurants, nightclubs, etc…

Mother’s: www.mothersrestaurant.net Mother’s is a Big Easy institution patronized by both natives and tourists. It’s been in an old downtown brick building since 1938, serving a varied clientele. During and after World War II, Mother’s became a local hang-out for the U.S. Marine Corps. This is where you can get your po-boy sandwiches, gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, and etouffee.
