In association with the New Orleans Burlesque Festival, The New York School of Burlesque and the New Orleans School of Burlesque bring you classes from some of the festival’s best and brightest!

BOOTY LAB Instructor: Michelle L’amour

Michelle L’amour, the woman BEHIND viral video sensation, ‘Butthoven’, will teach you how to shake it, bounce it, and twerk it! Get to know your booty and its END-less possibilities. Wear something comfortable. Shoes are optional. Watch Butthoven here:

Dollie Rivas has been the resident choreographer of Bustout Burlesque, the hit-show at House of Blues New Orleans, since its premiere in early 2005. She’s choreographed numerous dance routines, including Perle Noire’s Josephine Baker act, which won Best Debut at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2008. Recently, she choreographed for the monthly Bad Girls of Burlesque show at House of Blues. Formerly, Dollie was a Las Vegas showgirl who opened the long-running Jubilee! at the MGM Grand. In this workshop, she will focus on body isolations, sensual walks, and then combine the two into elegant choreography. This workshop is for all levels of performers. Don’t be afraid! If you lack grace and confidence, or are an established performer and just want to polish up, this is the class for you!

TROUPE MANAGEMENT Instructors: Ruby Revue

Learn about troupe management and production from one of the most successful troupes in the biz! Fresh from winning “Best Troupe” at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, the stars of The Ruby Revue will cover: how to schedule rehearsals for large groups, how to create a common goal, and tips for your best group choreography. FLOOR PLAY Instructor: Ginger Lee Valentine

Set the stage on fire with Ginger Valentine (Queen of Burlesque 2012). This class focuses on tease and sensual movement. Learn how to incorporate floor work into your burlesque routines while working those abs, glutes & legs. Wear fitted workout/dance wear.


JAZZ & BURLESQUE Instructor: Jim Thornton

Jim Thornton has been the trumpeter for Bustout Burlesque in New Orleans since 2008, and this is his second year presenting at the New Orleans Burlesque Festival.  Similar to last year, Jim’s updated presentation will again focus on jazz music and burlesque: finding, selecting, arranging, and using jazz in your performances.  He will also present tips for working with musicians.

STRIPPING THE SUPERHERO Instructor: Dangrrr Doll

Sunday, Sept. 21st  2:15pm-3:15pm  $20

Join Dangrrr Doll for this 60-minute workshop as she teaches you the process behind creating nerdlesque, pop culture, and character based acts. Get in deep with your theme and learn how to bring your character to life in a way that can appeal to everyone, even if they’ve never heard of that obscure movie you want to reference! This is an act development class. Please bring a notebook and pen.


Sept. 21st  3:30pm-4:30pm $20

Pasties are a unique part of burlesque costuming, and tassel twirling is a unique element of burlesque movement! The history of pasties and tassel twirling is just the beginning of a class that will have you doing things you never thought possible! We will work to find your unique ability and get you beyond the basic bounce. Learn how to twirl in every direction, and on every part of your body.
